In meshed networks, distance protection is the central protection function in the feeder protection. SIPROTEC distance protection relays feature different starting criteria and extensive additional functions, achieve short tripping times, a high network stability, also in the fault case, as well as a high network availability by means of extensive auto-reclosure functions.

The SIPROTEC 7SA6 distance protection relay is a universal relay for protection, control and automation. The SIPROTEC 7SA63 is equipped with backlit graphic display for single-line diagram, control keys and key-operated switches. All function packages of the 7SA6 are also available with this version. Its high level of flexibility permits its use in all resonant-earthed, isolated or earthed systems with voltage levels between 5 kV and 765 kV.
The distance protection function ensures especially high-protection selectivity, as impedance measurement takes place simultaneously in up to six measuring loops.
SIPROTEC 7SA6 is a member of SIPROTEC 4 relay family.
