Automatic circuit reclosing is extensively applied to overhead line circuits where a high percentage of faults that occur are transient in nature. Automatic reclosing of the circuit breaker attempts to minimise the loss of supply to the customer and reduce the need for manual intervention.
Check synchronising ensures that a circuit breaker can only be closed when the voltages and frequency of the power system on each side of that circuit breaker are within acceptable limits.
The 7SG26 series of relays provides the logical control of a circuit breaker for auto-reclose sequences. The required sequence depends on the substation primary plant arrangement. 7SG26 relays can be applied to all substation configurations and can monitor the switchgear positions of all connected plant.
Relays are housed in size E8, E12 or E16 cases. Integrated logic is provided to allow the optimal configuration of the relays analogue inputs and binary input/output circuits.
Protection, instrumentation and metering functionality is accessible via data comms channels. A 25 pin RS232 front port for local PC connection and two rear fibre optic ports for remote connection are provided.
