Capacitor bank installations typically comprise the interconnection of a large number of individual capacitor units and possibly an associated damping and/or filter network.
The protection is used to detect abnormal running conditions e.g. over-voltages or high current and can operate to avoid complete breakdown of the capacitor bank occurring. Other functionality may include the provision of short circuit protection.
