High Impedance Protection

A unit protection used to provide restricted earth fault, busbar and connections protection. The high impedance principle ensures sensitive, high speed operation for internal faults and guaranteed stability during external faults.
The stability of the scheme depends upon the operate voltage setting being greater than the maximum voltage which can appear across the relay under a given through fault condition. Scheme implementation may require stabilising resistors, setting resistors and non-linear voltage limiting resistors to be connected in circuit.
