System voltage limits are strictly controlled any variation beyond these limits can be monitored by under/over voltage measuring relays.
The frequency is an indicator of the health of the power system. Detection of an under-frequency condition indicates an unbalance between load requirements and generating capacity and can be used for example to implement a load shedding sequence.
