The TOOLBOX II provides all necessary functions for integrated engineering for the whole product line SICAM 1703. Furthermore it provides interfaces to other SIEMENS systems (e.g. SICAM PAS, Spectrum PowerCC) as well as to other products of third-party manufacturers. The over-all engineering process for a plant can be performed by TOOLBOX II. It supports the user in the range from data acquisition and modeling to parameter loading, test and error diagnosis. Moreover distant systems can be maintained remotely via common communication lines. Plant parts can be modeled and copied easily as objects in OPM II. Furthermore object changes can be inherited that supports the centralized data management additionally. The tool CAEx plus can be used to realize open/closed loop control functions according to the IEC 61131-3 standard. Projects can be handled by one person as well as teams, either local or in client-server networks. The TOOLBOX II implements the IEC 61850 standard, whereby devices of third-party manufacturers can be handled in projects as well.
Designing process engineering
Through the introduction of process engineering in OPM II, the actual plant can be made the focal point of the engineering process. The TOOLBOX II allows the project engineers to work within ‘their own environment’:
Primary equipment and units occur more than once within a single process, frequently in identical form. In many cases several identical feeders or circuit-breakers are used in a substation, several of the same or similar pumps are to be found in a power plant, while in tunnels there are many traffi c lights, SOS telephones and fans of the same type.
The TOOLBOX II allows confi guration, loading, system diagnostics, system testing and documentation of the automation and telecontrol functions in a SICAM 1703 automation network for local and remote automation units. All functions can be executed over the communication channels of the automation system (in other words with no separate line). This makes testing and commissioning very easy.
The integrated diagnostics functions of the TOOLBOX II can quickly detect and correct any faults thereby considerably increasing the availability of the system as a whole.
The network overview diagnosis provides a quick overview of any faults in the entire system. If a fault is detected, a detailed diagnosis is shown with detailed information about the fault in plain text, indicating the possible causes and remedial action to take.
Remote maintenance allows access to automation systems from anywhere by telephone or via modem, ISDN, TCP/IP, etc. as the basis for the necessary services. Apart from remote maintenance with all functions a locally installed TOOLBOX II can be controlled remotely from one installed in the service center.
Data simulation messages of any kind can be defined with the aid of a menu and can be used for simulation in the automation system. To trace the data flow, simultaneous logging points can be selected with graphical support. Message filters only allow those messages relevant for the particular test to be displayed.
The OPM II can be used to defi ne the process data points in the control center systems and their attributes and to confi gure their parameters. Through the application of OPM II references, attributes of the SICAM 1703 automation system can be utilized without redundancy. This means, for example, that the project engineer does not need to enter the message address for the control center system. The use of OPM II formulas allows automatic calculation of attributes of the control center system, thereby speeding up the engineering process and minimizing the error rate. In addition, the text address is generated automatically.
In TOOLBOX II, the logics, open-loop and closed-loop control applications are created in CAEx plus. This powerful tool effectively combines a fully graphic user interface with intuitive operation resulting in short theoretical and practical training periods. CAEx plus is fully integrated in the TOOLBOX II, and provides an effi cient and simple way of creating appli cation programs in accordance with the IEC 61131-3 standard.
CAEx plus marks the logical continuation of object orientation in the engineering process which was introduced in OPM II. The use of typical function diagrams permits quick and error-free programming in standardized application programs. If the logic of the application program is changed, the inheritance principle that applies to object-oriented concepts automatically keeps the overall project consistent.
The transparent and clearly structured user interface is designed for fast, effi cient working, and is further enhanced by a multitude of easy to operate functions. Examples are the project explorer, the intuitive function plan editor, the navigator, and the documentation manager. Detailed online help provides 24/7 assistance should any queries arise.
CAEx plus also incorporates comprehensive test functions which are easy to use. The offl ine test function is used independently of the automation system for testing the application program in Windows, and almost in real time. The program can then be tested with the automation system in the online test.
A major feature of the OPM II is the open interface to any third-party systems and vendors. This interface enables OPM II data to be transferred to external storage or third-party data to be imported into the OPM II. Externally stored data can be converted with any programs for automatic post-processing. Importing of external data can also be remote controlled, i.e. without operating OPM II.
Apart from incorporating individual attributes, the process allows the creation of signals or other higher-order objects (e.g. a feeder, pump or circuit-breaker). In this way even old data can be transferred very easily into the OPM II. It is also possible to defi ne and administer parameters of systems of other vendors or general parameters in the OPM II. The project engineer can personally defi ne the attributes in a client project, for example parameters of third-party vendors. These self-defi ned parameters allow any OPM II standard processing such as bulk editing, references and formulas and even the division of engineering tasks.
