Pressurized air-cooled generators with a power rating up to 550 MVA
Siemens SGen-2000P series pressurized air-cooled generators with ratings up to 550 MVA are used in simple cycle, combined cycle, and steam power plants. The SGen-2000P series features pressurized-air cooling with a water-cooled stator winding. Replacing hydrogen cooling with pressurized air significantly reduces plant complexity and operational cost. In addition to extending the performance the water-cooled stator provides the greatest operational flexibility to customers. As hydrogen has been eliminated, the SGen-2000P series has the capability of unstaffed operation, e.g. for synchronous condenser applications.
The SGen-2000P generator series was designed with particular focus on service and maintenance. Along with eliminating hydrogen-related generator auxiliaries, various service-friendly design solutions have been implemented. The components of the SGen-2000P series have been proven over decades of operation. The implementation of verified design features with load-dependent air pressure control enables the SGen-2000P technology to achieve performance levels comparable to indirect hydrogen-cooled generators.
The SGen-2000P series combines two proven technologies in one innovative concept. The generator operates with air up to 550 MVA and features variable pressurization with water-cooled stator windings. By eliminating related hydrogen/ gas auxiliary systems, the SGen-2000P series operating and maintenance costs are lower than for traditional hydrogen-cooled products in this output class.
