Supplier for the Complete Value Chain of LNG Solutions
The growing role of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in global energy supplies calls for comprehensive solutions within the LNG value chain. Siemens Energy Oil & Gas has them: offerings for next-generation onshore and offshore plants, based on
– to name just a few examples. Along with advanced services and consulting for the oil and gas industry, they make Siemens an experienced partner in a booming market.
Over the past few decades, LNG has matured to become an economically viable and technically proven and manageable means of transferring natural gas from remote production locations to distant consumers. Apart from the global increase in the cost of primary energy, this development has been driven by increased competition, economies of scale, an emerging spot market for LNG, and substantial advances in technology.
Reducing the specific cost of LNG by upscaling liquefaction trains and increasing their productivity through innovative technologies is a recognized industrial trend. The reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and construction times has become an additional problem, challenging traditional approaches.
Plant reliability and meeting tight delivery schedules are crucial factors for LNG suppliers. The critical question asked by all suppliers is: how can we ensure reliable plant operation and efficiency while keeping plant downtimes to a minimum?
Siemens has the answer.
All components were designed in accordance with Shell DEP specifications.
Melkøya Island, off Hammerfest, Norway
The world’s first all-electric LNG plant. Designed for flawless operation in arctic temperatures and rapidly changing operating conditions. Scope of Siemens delivery:
Abu Dhabi Gas Liquefaction Company Ltd (ADGAS)
Abu Dhabi Gas Liquefaction Company Ltd. (ADGAS) contracted Siemens for the modernization and expansion of the power supply and distribution system of the gas liquefaction plant on “Das Island”. The system is designed to improve security of supply and increase available power reserves. As part of the project, the plant will have a
Pertamina/BP, Indonesia
In 2005, Pertamina/BP ordered two tandem casing trains for an LNG plant in Indonesia. Scope of Siemens delivery:
Nigeria LNG
Relying on Siemens’ experience in LNG applications, Nigeria LNG ordered rotating equipment for propane compression for their Bonny Island LNG project. Scope of Siemens delivery:
Ras Laffan, Qatar, RasGas LNG plant
Scope of Siemens delivery:
Nigeria LNG, NNPC
The world’s largest end flash gas (EFG) single-shaft compressor was manufactured for Nigeria LNG, NNPC. Scope of Siemens delivery:
Providence, Rhode Island, USA; LNG regasification plant of Algonquin Gas Transmission Co.
Scope of Siemens delivery:
DABHOL LNG Receiving Terminal in India
In 1997, Siemens delivered the world’s first single-shaft turbocompressor for boil-off gas compression at an LNG receiving terminal. The 2 x 50% machines were designed for the DABHOL LNG Receiving Terminal in India. Scope of Siemens delivery:
LNG receiving terminal Altamira
In 2003, Shell/Total/Mitsui ordered the world's first 1 x 100% single-shaft turbocompressor for BOG recovery for the Altamira LNG receiving terminal. The compressor unit can cope with the large volume fluctuation. Scope of Siemens delivery:
SINES LNG receiving terminal, Portugal, operated by Transgas Atlantico
Scope of Siemens delivery:
Siemens’ first all-electric LNG compressor trains for Indonesia and South-East Asia
In 2008 Siemens was selected to supply motor-driven main-refrigerant compressors for four natural gas liquefaction trains to be installed in an LNG plant owned by Energy World Corporation (EWC) in Indonesia.
Scope of Siemens delivery:
The four 0.5 million tonnes per year (mtpa) liquefaction trains will enable LNG to meet the growing demand in South-East Asia, primarily in Indonesia and the Philippines and possibly also in China and Japan.
These orders represented the largest application of Siemens compressors in an LNG refrigeration cycle in an important and expanding section of the market.
