Siemens share of the steam power plant market is 18% of the worldwide installed capacity, representing approximately 280 GW. The Siemens coal-fired sales model comprises Products, Power Train, Power Island, Power Block, Complete EPC/Turnkey, allowing adaption to customer needs and site requirements. In addition, our global network and work force ensures the smooth execution of projects.
Our spectrum of Siemens coal-fired power plant solutions ranges from 300 MW to 1000 MW with subcritical, supercritical and ultra-supercritical steam parameters, satisfying the most stringent environmental requirements.
Our technological innovations result in highly efficient coal-fired power plants with ultra-supercritical parameters, such as main steam up to 280 bar/600°C, reheat steam up to 610°C, and net plant efficiencies up to 47% depending on cooling conditions. Additional in-house technologies range from the air pollution control (APC) systems and electrostatic precipitators (ESP) to flue-gas desulfurization (FGD) and selective catalytic reduction (SCR) solutions.
Capturing CO2 from the flue gas significantly reduces CO2 emissions from the coal-fired steam power plants. Siemens has developed a post-combustion carbon capture process, which is scheduled to be tested from August 2009 in a steam power plant in Germany. Our Siemens portfolio comprises solutions for retrofitting existing steam plants with the CO2 capture process and for building new capture-ready steam power plants, designed for being retrofitted at a later stage. Currently Siemens is developing future steam power plants with integrated post-combustion CO2 capture.
Advanced plant reliability and availability are ensured with the proven design, with redundancy of critical components and with service concepts.
