Siemens offers a comprehensive range of steam turbines from 45 kW to 1,900 MW, with the flexibility to address the specific requirements of your particular application. With over a century of experience and continuous development in steam turbine technology, Siemens has stayed at the forefront of development and is a prime partner for your business.
Typical fields of application are chemical and petrochemical industry, pulp and paper mills, steel works, mines, power plants, seawater desalination plants and waste-to-energy, e.g. waste incinerators. The SST-600 is used as:
| Power output | up to 100 MW |
| Inlet steam pressure | up to 140 bar / 2,030 psi |
| Inlet steam temperature | up to 540 °C / 1005 °F |
| Rotational speed | 3,000 to 15,000 rpm |
| Bleeds | up to 5, at various pressure levels |
| Controlled extraction | pressure: up to 65 bar (a) / 945 psi |
| Exhaust steam conditions | pressure: up to 55 bar (a) / 800 psi |
All data are approximate and project-related.
The steam turbine SST-600 consists of three main modules: inlet, intermediate and exhaust sections. The complex inlet section consists of emergency stop valve, control valve, internal casing with blading and external casing. The intermediate section can be designed for straight flow, or equipped with bleeds and/or controlled extractions. A wide range of exhaust sizes and types is available for back-pressure and condensing applications. These pre-designed modules are combined to a single unit for optimum matching of the required parameters.
For direct-coupled turbines or mechanical drives, the SST-600 core turbine is mounted on a separate base frame, for geared turbines the turbine is placed on a common base frame together with a gearbox. For smaller condensing sizes, even the condenser can be integrated in the base frame. For the conventional package arrangement with downward exhaust for back-pressure, condensing applications and large direct-coupled generator drives, the turbine stands on a pedestal-type support. For ground-level installation the turbine is equipped with axial or upward exhaust.
