With the Power System Simulator (PSS®) product suite, Siemens PTI provides a range of analysis tools, including our premier product PSS®E for electrical transmission planning, which has been significantly upgraded with modern graphics, e.g. integration with modeling tools.
Since the mid 1980s we have also supplied utility and industry planning software and currently offer PSS®SINCAL as our strategic product in this field. Besides electrical networks, PSS®SINCAL also is capable of dealing with gas, water and district heating system planning tasks.
Siemens PTI has also developed tools for maintaining and integrating transmission operations with transmission planning including the integration of real-time information to our PSS®ODMS Operational Database Management System software that is fully CIM (Common Information Model) compliant.

MOD®
Model on Demand
MOD® extends the capabilities of Siemens PTI's CIM-compliant Operational Database Management System - PSS®ODMS product line. The user can manage a great number of change cases for PSS®E. MOD® assembles sets of model changes into "queues". Queues can then be managed and organized in various fashions depending on the needs of the PSS®E user. Queues are coupled with MOD® seasonal and annual profiles to provide the PSS®E user with a procedure for organizing and re-organizing system investigations. All this without the need for generating a great number of PSS®E base cases, or repeatedly re-running PSS®E cases when planning sequences change.
Model On Demand MOD® revolutionizes transmission planning data manipulation and generation of major study data sets. MOD® allows the system study engineer to:
- Organize and reorganize, study cases without the need to generate a multitude of PSS®E "base cases"
- Store a single master network model
- Accommodate seasonal and annual profile data sets
- Treat projects as sets of data changes that are applied serially in any order specified by the user
- Export a PSS®E file considering equipment commission/ de-commission dates, out-of-service and in-service dates
- Provide an unlimited number of ratings to be applied as Rate A, B, C in the exported PSS®E case
