Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
Siemens, a pioneer in HVDC technology, has received many honors taking
home awards for projects in Asia and New Zealand. Helping to show how
pollution control can pay off, Siemens aided in a big step forward in
India when the UN approved Carbon Credits for the HVDC Mundra-Haryana

A
Win-Win Solution
The Georgia
Black-Sea Transmission Network will connect the Georgian and
the Turkish power supply networks. This HVDC Back-to-Back link
will allow Turkey to cover its growing power demand with
eco-friendly electric power from Georgia, whereas Georgia will
profit economically of the HVDC transmission link, which is
one of the most significant infrastructure projects in this
country.

The Asian Power Award
2011 for UHV DC Yunnan-Guangdong Project, China |

The
Asian Power Award in silver for the world's first UHV DC link,
the Yunnan-Guangdong Project in China
Siemens Yunnan-Guangdong
project has been awarded the Asian Power Award in silver on
category "Best Fast-Track Power Project in Asia" The
long-distance transmission system of the Yunnan-Guangdong DC
Transmission Project transmits 5,000 MW over 1418 km from the
substation Chuxiong in Yunnan to the load center in Guangdong.
Commercial operation of the first 800 kV pole started in
December 2009, the complete bipole is in operation since June
2010.

Siemens
HVDC Pole 3 Project wins two Safety Awards during Transpower's
inaugural STAR Awards Ceremony
On August 10th, 2011 our
customer Transpower New Zealand Limited held their inaugural
STAR Awards ceremony to reward achievement and excellence in
safety. The event was well supported with 110 nominations
received. The Siemens HVDC Pole 3 team - together with
our customer Transpower and our civil contractor Mainzeal -
won in two categories of seven:

The HVDC Mundra-Haryana Project is going to
get Carbon Credits |

Approval
of HVDC methodology - The Mundra-Haryana Project is going to
get Carbon Credits under CDM framework of UNFCCC
Thanks to
Siemens support in proving how a HVDC line was better than the
next best alternative, the Indian customer Adani Power shall
get Carbon Credits under UNFCCC, Clean Development Mechanism.
Now all projects worldwide can become eligible for getting
carbon credits for setting up HVDC lines under CDM mechanism.
It also improves the payback period of investment
significantly especially in developing countries.
