Hydrogen-cooled generators with a power rating up to 600 MVA
With ratings up to 600 MVA, SGen-2000H series hydrogen-cooled generators are used in simple cycle, combined cycle, and steam power plants. They have a more compact design and higher efficiency than air-cooled models with an equivalent power rating. The increased performance of the SGen-2000H is due to the better heat transfer and lower density of hydrogen compared to air. In addition, friction losses are minimized. Because they are completely sealed, these SGen-2000H series generators particularly well suited for environments where impurities can occur.
The SGen-2000H series generators are easy to maintain and install. To prevent mechanical and electrical degradation in the SGen-2000H series, stator bar tightness is maintained through pre-stressed ripple springs or Global Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (GVPI). The stators are cooled indirectly or directly, depending on the MVA rating. The rotor windings are cooled directly for a high power output. This provides for a compact design.
