Beginning of 2009 RTE, France, a state-owned limited company, a subsidiary of the EDF Group, ordered 5 MSCDNs from Siemens.
The MSCDN (Mechanically Switched Capacitor Damping Network) incorporates only passive components such as capacitors, reactors and resistors and can be connected directly to the high voltage busbar system
The MSC is used to stabilize system voltage and to keep voltage fluctuations caused by heavy load variations and changed network conditions within acceptable limits.
The completion date is planed in 2011.

In July 2005 Siemens received the follow-up order from Red Eléctrica de España about two new MSCDN systems (220kV, 100 MVAr) in the substations Benejama and Saladas near the Costa Blanca in Spain. This is the result of our customers satisfaction received by the Siemens project management during the first order, the Jijona MSCDN.
The installation of MSCDN like for Benejama and Saladas are used for voltage control and network stabilization under heavy load conditions with an additional damping circuit for avoidance of system resonances.
The completion date was in the first quarter of 2006.

Siemens as a trusted supplier for FACTS devices got the order for the Baish MSC from SEC (Saudi Electric Company) in 2003. One year later SEC ordered 4 additional MSCs, the Samitah project from Siemens.
Two shunt capacitors (MSC) have been installed at Baish 132 kV substation in Jizan region of SEC-SRB. MSC are a simple and effective compensation method for the system. The shunt capacitors are used for Reactive Power Control and AC network stability.
