The Kraftwerke Mainz-Wiesbaden AG is meeting the ever-changing challenges of the energy market with an innovative concept: Waste heat from the waste incineration plant linked with the combined cycle plant is used to run up the plant more quickly after shutdown. This heat is utilized to keep the high and intermediate-pressure sections of the steam turbine within a constant temperature range, which currently enables a fast warm start.
Further cost savings are also anticipated by introducing Hot-start on the fly – a concept that enables simultaneous startup of the gas and steam turbines.
